Boston Marathon 2013
My wife and I were in Boston watching her brother Ryan run the marathon to raise money for the St. Francis House charities. In the second wave of runners, he ran with a time of 3:44., crossing the finish line at about 2:40. We were watching from the VIP review stands in front of the Boston Public Library, directly across the street from where the blasts took place, but left about 10 minutes before the bombs went off to find Ryan at the family meet-up point about a block away. We heard the 2 blasts and were like "what the hell was that?" We realized something bad had happened, when we saw a man with blood on his shirt saying
"A lot of people are hurt, we need to go to the hospital and give blood" Then came emergency vehicles, sirens, helicopters, the ensuing confusion and chaos and fear. It is a day I will never forget.
